Position Overview
The Voice Instructor provides individualized private lessons and supports students’ musical growth across HBMS’s core programs (Private Lessons, Progress, Performance, and Ensembles). Instructors report to the Dean and may also coach chamber ensembles, lead sectional rehearsals, teach classes, or take on occasional administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Teach private lessons and support ongoing student progress.
- Demonstrate and reinforce effective practice and performance techniques.
- Create and share Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
- Provide informal feedback throughout the year and formal feedback via end-of-year Progress Reports.
- Prepare and submit students for recitals, festivals, and performance programs.
- Connect musical study with broader cultural and artistic contexts.
- Advise students on opportunities available to them at HBMS, in the community, and regarding collegiate and career pathways.
- Maintain attendance and communicate promptly with families and colleagues.
- Follow all administrative protocols as shared via the Employee Handbook and the Faculty Bulletin.
- Uphold HBMS Code of Conduct and complete required trainings.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Music or Music Education, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in community arts education preferred.
- Strong performance background.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Comfort with MS365 and willingness to learn school technologies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Private lesson rate: $52.50–$60+ per hour, based on experience.
- Group instruction starting at $55/hr.
