Position Overview
Dalcroze Eurhythmics Instructors report to the Dean and teach classes within the Early Childhood Music and Musicianship Programs. Instruction includes adult‑child and child‑only music and movement classes, and musicianship classes for grades 1–3 that integrate Dalcroze principles and prepare students for written music theory.
The Early Childhood Program leads into the School’s Musicianship Program for grades 3–12, which focuses on written theory, analysis, and aural skills. Depending on availability, training, and interest Dalcroze Instructors may be invited to teach in this program as well. Candidates with additional expertise in an instrument or voice may also be considered for related teaching opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Teach Dalcroze based classes within the School’s Early Childhood Music Program
- Prepare course materials including syllabi and lesson plans
- Advise students on opportunities available to them at HBMS, in the community, and regarding collegiate and career pathways.
- Maintain attendance and communicate promptly with families and colleagues.
- Follow all administrative protocols as shared via the Employee Handbook and the Faculty Bulletin.
- Uphold HBMS Code of Conduct and complete required trainings.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in music or music education, or equivalent experience.
- Dalcroze teacher certification or substantial formal training and work experience is required.
- Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in community arts education preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Comfort with MS365 and willingness to learn school technologies.
Compensation & Benefits
- Group instruction starting at $55/hr.
