American-born Korean-Chinese musician Liza Wu is a classical pianist, organist, music director, and educator based in Manhattan. She performs regularly in NYC and across the globe, with international presentations in Canada, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Amsterdam, and Grand Cayman.

Her extensive performance credits include renowned venues such as Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Fox Theater, and numerous university halls including Yale, Columbia, and Duke. She has been an affiliate of prestigious institutions like Barnard College/Columbia University, NYU, Interlochen, St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, and the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.

Liza Wu is a regular collaborator with distinguished musicians and directors, including Amadi Azikiwe, Rodney Marsalis, Harolyn Blackwell, and Catherine Malfitano. She maintains a successful private piano studio for over 25 years and recently joined the piano faculty of The 92nd St Y, Bloomingdale School of Music, and the Cathedral School of St. John the Divine. Liza is also the Music Director of the Manhattan Plaza Choir.

Pedagogical Approach: Drawing from training at institutions like the Cleveland Institute of Music, the School for Strings (Suzuki Piano Training), and the Diller-Quaile School of Music, her teaching is comprehensive. Specific focuses include concert/exam/competition preparation, collaborative/chamber music coaching, and facility in sight-reading/vocal diction. She instructs students from young beginners up through adults in college/conservatory, and continuing education for professionals.

As an organist, her recent international performances include Poland, Italy, and Switzerland. Her past professional roles include keyboardist for New York Stage and Film, Assistant Music Director for the New York Youth Symphony Singers, and a sideline musician for NBC’s music series ‘Smash’.
