A native of Tokyo, Japan, pianist Hanako Yamagata has performed frequently with the Martha Graham Dance Company and collaborates with accomplished instrumentalists in the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Ms. Yamagata is currently on the piano faculty of the Riverdale Country School and accompanying staff of the Juilliard School. CD recordings include: Listening with Denson Paul Pollard (Met Opera), Act One with Weston Sprott, the Courtois Trombone CD with Members of the MET Orchestra Trombone Section, Psychadelia with James Markey (Boston Symphony), and Vital Signs with George Curran (NY Philharmonic), among others. Ms. Yamagata has served as pianist with the International Trombone Festival, and has been invited to teach, coach and perform at the Five Seasons Chamber Music Festival in Cedar Rapids, IA.

After receiving her Music Together certification Ms. Yamagata has managed and taught early childhood music and movement at her own bilingual Music Center and has been active as K-8 music teaching artist in the NYC public schools for over a decade.
