Evgeniia Zdorova is a cellist, educator, and active performer with more than 15 years of experience teaching cello in music schools. Originally from Saint Petersburg, Russia, she began studying music at the age of four and later trained with a teacher who had studied under the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. She was awarded First Prize in the Baltic Stars International Music Competition in Narva, Estonia.
Her professional career has included orchestral, opera, ballet, and chamber music performances. She performed with the Petrozavodsk Philharmonic and the Petrozavodsk Opera and Ballet Theater before joining the renowned Perm Opera and Ballet Theater, where she appeared in productions conducted by internationally acclaimed conductor Teodor Currentzis. Now based in New York, Zdorova has performed with the Bronx Orchestra and at cultural institutions including Kaufman Music Center and Scandinavia House. She remains active as a chamber musician and performing artist throughout New York City.
Zdorova brings this broad performance experience to a teaching approach that is highly individualized and student-centered. She works with students of varied ages and ability levels, adapting her instruction to each musician’s goals, interests, and learning style while maintaining strong standards for technique, musicianship, and artistic expression.
Believing that musical development extends beyond instrumental technique, she incorporates music theory, ear training, and music history into her lessons. She carefully selects repertoire that both challenges and inspires students and creates exercises and activities that reinforce musical concepts in engaging ways.
Zdorova strives to create a supportive, structured environment in which students develop confidence, discipline, creativity, and independence. Her goal is to help each student discover a personal musical voice while building the skills and enthusiasm that support a lifelong connection to music.
