Piano Master Class with Roberto Plano

Roberto Plano is an internationally acclaimed Italian pianist whose career was launched with First Prize at the 2001 Cleveland International Piano Competition. He was also a finalist at the 2005 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, a laureate of the 2003 Honens International Piano Competition, and a prizewinner at the 2006 AXA Dublin International Piano Competition.
Plano has performed at major venues throughout North America and Europe, including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Severance Hall, Milan’s Sala Verdi, Paris’s Salle Cortot, London’s Wigmore Hall, Dublin’s National Concert Hall, and Munich’s Herkulessaal and Gasteig. He has also appeared at distinguished festivals including the Chopin Festival in Duszniki, Portland Piano International Festival, Savannah Music Festival, Newport Music Festival, and Festival at Sandpoint.
As a soloist, Plano has performed with orchestras throughout Europe, North America, and Asia, including the Houston, Fort Worth, Spokane, and Sendai symphonies, Milan Symphony Orchestra “Verdi,” and Festival Strings Lucerne. In Canada, he appeared with the Calgary Philharmonic under Sir Neville Marriner. He has worked with leading conductors including James Conlon, Pinchas Zukerman, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and Donato Renzetti.
Plano has been featured on NPR’s Performance Today, BBC Radio, CBC, WFMT, WGBH, and other international broadcasts. His artistry has also been documented in films and television programs aired by PBS, ARTE, MEZZO, and NHK.
An experienced educator, Plano has presented masterclasses at institutions including the Cleveland Institute of Music, Boston Conservatory, Indiana University, and Paris’s École Normale de Musique.
