Cello Master Class with Zvi Plesser

Israeli cellist Zvi Plesser enjoys an international career as a soloist, chamber musician, educator, and music director. For more than three decades, he has performed and taught around the world, bringing the same commitment to appearances in major concert halls and to his work with young musicians.

As a soloist, Plesser has performed extensively with Israel’s leading orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Camerata, Israel Chamber Orchestra, and Haifa Symphony. Internationally, he has appeared with ensembles including the Berlin Philharmonic, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., Shanghai Philharmonic, and Hamburg Symphony, working with distinguished conductors including Zubin Mehta, Sir Neville Marriner, and Omer Meir Wellber.

An active chamber musician, Plesser has performed at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, Vienna Konzerthaus, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and the Louvre, as well as at major festivals throughout Europe, Asia, Israel, and the United States. He served for a decade as music director of Israel’s Voice of Music in the Upper Galilee chamber music festival and later co-founded the Mu-Zi Festival.

A graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied with Zara Nelsova, Plesser is a professor at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where he has also served as Head of Strings and Director of the Nazarian Chamber Music Program. He has taught at institutions in the United States and Germany and has been a faculty member of the Perlman Music Program since 2017. A sought-after teacher, he regularly presents master classes and workshops at leading music institutions worldwide.
