Vocal Master Class with Sari Gruber

Soprano Sari Gruber has earned international acclaim for her artistry on the opera, concert, and recital stages. Hailed as “nothing short of sensational” by Opera magazine and praised by The New York Times for her “direct musicality,” she was awarded First Place in the prestigious Walter W. Naumburg Foundation International Vocal Competition.

Gruber has appeared with many of the world’s leading opera companies, including Lyric Opera of Chicago, New York City Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Netherlands Opera, Maggio Musicale di Firenze, Pittsburgh Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and the Saito Kinen Festival. Her extensive repertoire includes leading roles in Le nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte, Rigoletto, Roméo et Juliette, La Bohème, Don Giovanni, and The Rake’s Progress. As a concert artist, she has performed with the Boston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Dallas Symphony, and Philharmonia Baroque, among others.

An accomplished recitalist, Gruber has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and has performed extensively with the New York Festival of Song. She is also deeply committed to vocal education, teaching singers from the high school level through active professionals. She teaches classical voice at Carnegie Mellon University and musical theater vocal technique at Point Park University, and has presented master classes at Yale University, Michigan State University, Interlochen, Pittsburgh Opera, and other institutions.

Gruber holds a B.A. from Yale University and a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, where she also trained at the Juilliard Opera Center.
