DESCRIPTION:Jennifer Frautschi\, violin\nTwo-time Grammy nominee and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient Jennifer Frautschi has appeared as soloist with many of the nation’s leading orchestras\, including the Chicago Symphony\, Los Angeles Philharmonic\, Minnesota Orchestra\, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. A passionate chamber musician\, she is an artist-member of the Boston Chamber Music Society and has performed at Chamber Music Northwest\, Music@Menlo\, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center\, and numerous festivals including Ojai\, Santa Fe\, Seattle\, Spoleto\, and La Jolla SummerFest. \nHer wide-ranging discography includes Grammy-nominated recordings of Schoenberg’s Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra and String Quartet No. 3 with the Fred Sherry Quartet\, Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto with Robert Craft and the Philharmonia Orchestra of London\, and\, with pianist John Blacklow\, Schumann’s three violin sonatas and American Duos\, featuring works by contemporary American composers. \nA Pasadena native\, Frautschi studied at the Colburn School\, Harvard\, the New England Conservatory\, and the Juilliard School. DESCRIPTION:Our 49th annual celebration! \nJoin us for Hoff-Barthelson’s 49th annual Flute Plus!\, a day devoted to all things flute\, featuring internationally renowned flutist\, composer\, improviser\, author\, teacher\, and inventor Robert Dick. \nUniversally regarded as a transformative leader in contemporary flute music\, Robert Dick has redefined the expressive possibilities of the instrument through his groundbreaking work with extended techniques\, improvisation\, composition\, and the invention of the Glissando Headjoint®. His artistry bridges classical music\, jazz\, world music\, and new sound worlds\, inspiring flutists around the globe. \n11:00 am–1:00 pm: Lecture-Demonstration with Robert Dick\nExplore throat tuning\, multiphonics\, circular breathing\, and other extended flute techniques.
