
A Five-week Program for Second - Ninth Graders
June 30 - August 1, 2008
The HBMS Summer Arts Program provides the ideal setting for a stimulating and enjoyable summer. The exceptional faculty boasts some of the top music educators in the country who provide a quality summer experience of music, visual arts, and musical theatre for second through ninth graders. Students at all levels of advancement receive instruction in group lessons and musical ensembles in a program individually tailored to their needs and desires. Weekly concerts allow the students to demonstrate their growing proficiency as the summer progresses.
Students may attend the basic Morning Program or choose among afternoon programs that extend the day to 2:00 pm or 5:00 pm:

A placement interview is conducted by the Program Director in order to ensure the best possible program for each child.
The curriculum includes:
- Instrumental Classes
- Orchestra and Chamber Ensembles
- Chorus
- Music Technology Lab
- Workshops and Ensembles: Advanced Guitar Ensemble, World Drumming, Piano for non-Pianists, Creative Keyboard, Wind Serenade, Simple Symphony, Composers Corner
- Jazz Band and Jazz Workshop
- Musical Theatre Workshop
- Arts & Crafts and Drama Workshops
The Musical Theatre Workshop for 9 - 14 year-olds is a fun-filled way for theatre enthusiasts to learn multiple disciplines and skills. The program focuses on a cooperative atmosphere and the joys of an end-of-season performance.
