Rachel Barton Pine
Heralded as a leading interpreter of the great classical masterworks, international concert violinist Rachel Barton Pine thrills audiences worldwide with her dazzling technique, lustrous tone and emotional honesty. With an infectious joy in music-making and a passion for connecting historical research to performance, Ms. Pine transforms audiences’ experiences of classical music. She has appeared as soloist with many of the world’s most prestigious ensembles, including the Chicago Symphony, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic and the Netherlands Radio Kamer Filharmonie. Ms. Pine is passionate about sharing classical music with people of all ages and backgrounds and is deeply committed to using music in community service, a value that we aim to instill in all our students at HBMS.

Edmund and Elaine Schroeder
Through decades of exemplary board service and philanthropy, Ed and Elaine Schroeder have helped bring world-class music education and performance to tens of thousands of music lovers and learners across Greater New York. The brilliant artistry on display at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts (Elaine) and Orchestra of St. Luke’s (Ed) are possible in no small part due to their service in key governance roles. Education Through Music, which Ed co-founded in 1991, now works in over 50 NYC public schools to improve educational outcomes for 30,000 students across all five boroughs. And, here at Hoff-Barthelson, where Ed has served on the board since 1974, our faculty guide students of all ages and abilities through a well-rounded curriculum which nurtures musical skill and appreciation while building life skills in empathy, resilience, critical thinking, self-expression and achievement. These remarkable organizations have long delivered, and will long deliver, profound gifts to our community. We are deeply grateful to Ed and Elaine and are delighted to honor their remarkable achievements.
